FORGIVENESS

I.

Enhanced on 12/4/2016

FORGIVENESS IS A GIFT THAT WE GIVE TO OURSELVES.

Forgiveness has nothing to do with other people.  Forgiveness removes burdens from our hearts and pain from our bodies.  I have heard forgiveness talked about in many ways.  Here are a few of my favorites.

1.      Unforgiveness allows someone else to live rent free in our heads and hearts.

2.  Hurts are baggage we carry around with us.  We can’t even afford to take a trip or vacation –

because hauling around all that baggage costs us way too much.

3.  We do not need to examine the garbage (hurts) to throw it out.

WHY DO WE NEED TO FORGIVE?

Well, when we forgive our friends, then our friendship can continue.  And that is nice.  But our enemies, don’t they deserve our hatred and revenge?  Let’s see.  Hmm….  Think a moment about how you feel when you think someone hates you and hurts you….  It hurts a lot doesn’t it?  Well, it hurts God, too, when we hurt.  So God uses our hurts to teach all of us not to hurt others.  That is why when we do not forgive others, the hurt that we feel stays in our minds and bodies.  When we forgive, our bodies can begin to heal.  So the truth simply is if we want to stay as healthy as possibly, we need to forgive and forget any and all hurts daily.

When we do not forgive, forget and let go of a hurt, we carry that hurt in our minds, hearts and bodies.  Life goes on, and we get another hurt/problem, which again we don’t forgive and forget.  And again life goes on.  And again we don’t forgive and forget.  And life goes on.  This is how we wind up exhausted, feeling at the end of our ropes and all used up.  Each of us is only one person, and we were never meant to deal with and carry around more than one hurt/problem/opportunity/trial at a time.  So, how many hurts do you think you can carry around with you for the rest of your life?  And how many hurts do you want right now to carry around with you for the rest of your life?  Carrying around loads of hurts/problems with us day after day and year after year cuts our lives short!  So just how long would you like to live?

“But they are dumping their garbage on me!” you say?  “They are bleeding all over me!  Then they feel better and walk away ‘fat, dumb and happy’, and there I sit covered in their garbage and someone else’s blood!”  Been there!  Done that!  It is here and now your opportunity to decide.  Are you going to hold onto that blood and garbage?  Or, are you going to add to that blood and garbage to your own blood and garbage, and then dump all that blood and garbage on yet someone else?  STOP! STOP RIGHT NOW!  Don’t kid yourself!  It is all your choice!  God gave you that choice!  Choose differently now.  RIGHT NOW!  There is a better way.  Forgive them.  Forget the incident.  Pray that they learn their lessons easily and well, and thank them for their participation in your lesson of learning to forgive and forget.  Oh, my glorious God, help us to remember that which we need to remember – our lessons, and help us to forget that which we need to forget – our pains and transgressions.

It seems really hard, even impossible, to get the pain out of our bodies and our hearts.  And it is, I know.  Been there and done that, too.  But there are instructions, and here they are as they were given to me by God.  Every single time we feel someone has hurt us in any one separate incident, we say to ourselves - and it is okay if it is only in our thoughts:

1.  I forgive you.

2.  I forget the incident, the hurt and the pain.

But if that incident hurt you so deeply that you simply cannot forgive that person, ask God to help you forgive that person and forget the incident.  God can help you do that.  God can do anything!  God has infinite mercy for you, for me - for us all.  God taught me to do this.  If I did it, you can do it.  Keep saying numbers 1 – 4 over and over again as many times a day as you can, and at least once per day, preferably in the morning.  God will always let us walk away and hide from the offenses of the world.  We do have that choice.  But know that choice is a poor choice indeed.  Running away from our problems leaves us sick and alone!  Been there done that, too.

3.  I pray that you learn your lessons easily and well.

4. Thank you for helping me to learn this lesson of forgiveness.

Within the same incident if that same person hurts you again, then it is appropriate and preferred by God that you ask Him to solve the problem for you.  The second time in the same incident is God’s problem.  The first time in any separate, single incident is your opportunity to practice forgiveness up to and including three times.  After the third time in any separate, single incidences is God’s problem.  The same person in another, separate, single incident is a first time and your opportunity to practice forgiveness.  All incidents are kept separate by God.  The importance of two and three times becomes clear in the garden of Gethsemane where the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

As the evening began, after Jesus and His disciples had celebrated the Passover, they came to the garden. At some point, Jesus took three of them—Peter, James and John— to a place separated from the rest. Here Jesus asked them to watch with Him and pray so they would not fall into temptation (Matthew 26:41), but they fell asleep. Twice, Jesus had to wake them and remind them to pray so that they would not fall into temptation. This was especially poignant because Peter did indeed fall into temptation later that very night when three times he denied even knowing Jesus.  Jesus moved a little way from the three men to pray, and twice He asked His Father to remove the cup of wrath He was about to drink, but each time He submitted to the Father’s will. He was “exceedingly sorrowful unto death,” but God sent an angel from heaven to strengthen Him (Luke 22:43).  From gotquestions.org/

                        THE TREE OF LIFE

                        So?  They ate your fruit.

                        They burned your arms.

They warmed their homes with you.

                        So?  They cut your trunk

                        to build their towns.

Now, they are safe and sound.

                        So?  They used you up,

                        oh, Tree of Life.

“You’re dead,” they said, “and gone.”

                        So?  An ugly stump

                        the Tree of Life

                        braves Winter’s cold alone.

                        Then a web of roots

                        sustained by God

                        sprouts new green shoots galore.

                        And the majesty

                        of Trees of Life

                        spread throughout the land.

                        This is the truth

of all God’s gifts

because no one out gives God.

THINK FORGIVING IS EASY?

Think you’ve got forgiving down pat?  Is that so?  What irritates you the most?  Hmmmm….  Forgive that!  Forgive whoever does that!  Don’t just forgive the little things.  Forgive the big things.  The bigger the problem, the more important it is for us to forgive, or it will make us sour and sick.  Forgiving the small things makes forgiving the big things easier.  Start somewhere and just keep getting better and better and better at it.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” said Santayana in The Life of Reason in 1905.  Sounds like pretty good advice, right?  But there is a huge amount of ‘past’!  So what ‘past’ should we remember?  Should we remember the good in the ‘past’?  We already want to repeat that.  That means it is most important to remember the bad ‘past’.  But, since there is a great amount of bad ‘past’, it seems to make good sense to particularly remember the very worst ‘past’ – so that we won’t be doomed to repeat that.  But, if we fill our minds with such ugliness, it will make us mad and sad.  God says forgive it all.  Forget every single incident, and have pride in the progress we make each day.  Love our neighbors as ourselves.  It is not for us to judge our neighbors’ thoughts or actions.  We cannot know why they did what they did.  Only God sees all.  Thus, only God can judge whether something is good or bad.  Live one day at a time.   Ask God each morning:  “What shall I do today.  What shall I say today.  And thank you, God, for helping me through this day.  Believe it or not, living a good happy life is really just that simple!  Forgiveness truly is the biggest lesson of all.  In particular, we really need to forgive God for all of the problems, opportunities and trials that He has given us, so that we can learn to be wiser, kinder, gentler people.  Learn the talk.  Walk the talk.  Be the talk!

And don’t you dare lament that it has taken you so long to learn your lessons!  Look to a simple law of physics – the law of equal and opposite reactions.  What goes up must come down with the exact same amount of energy, and the arrow shot from a bow flies out with the exact amount of energy that pulled it back in the bow.  It matters not who pulled back the arrow.  The arrow pushed back, pulled back or held back is shot farther and further than we ever thought possible.  And furthermore, there is enough!  We are all enough!  We are always enough, and we have always been enough – when we ask, listen and obey the words of God.  Step out in faith, and let God do what only God can do.  God can make us fruitful in the land of our suffering.  He is inviting you – yes, you - right now to be fruitful, to be the shining light on a hill that others can strive to follow.

The song:  LEARNING TO BE THE LIGHT   by NewWorldSon

When the stars came crashing down
In tiny pieces to the ground
I was all alone down here
Trapped beneath the atmosphere
Then I, thought somebody called my name
I spun around and caught a flame
I gave into a God I didn't know
And now everything is falling into place
A brand new life is calling and I owe it all to grace

Chorus:

It's so much brighter living in your world
Savior what you did for me
You gave me something I want everyone to see
When we stumble and it all goes wrong
Only you can make it right
So I say
Oh oh oh oh oh
I'm learning to be the light
Whoa, whoa
I'm learning to be the light
Whoa, whoa

When a heart is cold as ice
You can't melt it with advice
No one wants to listen to
A list of things they shouldn't do
So I build a city on a hill
And I light a candle on the sill
Knowing you'll be always knocking at the door
Oh God I just want to love on everyone
All I have is yours to give so let the people come

(Chorus)

That makes the shadows hide
The light that breaks the curse of pride
The light that takes the weary in it's arms

When it all came crashing down
There was only darkness all around
But in the distance I could see A Flame

(Chorus)
I'm learning to be the light
Whoa, whoa
Rep 3 times.

Further still, wherever two are gathered, God is there.  With these lessons, I stand with you!  With These Lessons, I Stand With You!!  WITH THESE LESSONS, I STAND WITH YOU!!!   Let us all stand together in God’s almighty hands.  God said, “He will not, He Will Not, HE WILL NOT FAIL US – if we follow Him.”  The chicken with its head cut off dashing here and there for solutions is not trusting in God, but the sheep who stays within God’s flock is calm, confident and trusting in God.  God’s great coming together has begun!  A New World has begun!  ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD!  The more love we give, the more love we have to give!

1.        PAIN IS A GREAT TEACHER, IF WE LISTEN

“What is all this?” I finally said.  I swear to you, God never intended life to be a contest of who can

handle the most pain.  Those who can’t stand the pain are fortunate enough to give up sooner and learn

their lessons.  They ask God.  They bargain.  They negotiate.  They ask:

What is it I need to learn?

What is it this pain is trying so hard to teach me?

What is the lesson I am being given the opportunity to learn?

Why do I have this same pain again and again?

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for us in its hands.

We seek problems because we need their gifts.”  Richard Bach

Asking is great, but that is only half of the answer.  We must listen for the answer, too.  Each time the pain comes, ask yourself:

What did I do to make this pain come?

Then listen.  Sit very still and just listen to your heart.  Ask:

What can I do differently?

What can I change?

How can I be nicer?

Who do I need to be nicer to?  And know that person you need to be nicer to is - in all likelihood - the very person that you are trying so hard to avoid.  Then change.  Do it!  Be nice to them over and over again until it becomes a habit – until you become the light that can show their way.  Hooray!

“When you find yourself walking through Hell, keep walking.”

Winston Churchill

I guess Prime Minister Churchill was right.  We won that war.  Want to win yours?

What would you not do to get rid of your pain?  Then you haven’t been in pain that long.  Good for you!  Seriously!  I am very, very proud of people who learn their lessons quickly.  I wish I had been like that; but no, I’m way, way too stubborn!

The song lyrics for PICK YOURSELF UP BY Nat King Cole

Pick yourself up.  Take a deep breath.
Dust yourself off, and start all over again.

Nothing's impossible.  I have found, for when my chin is on the ground.
I pick myself up.  Dust myself off, and start all over again.

Don't lose your confidence.  If you slip, be grateful for a pleasant trip.
And pick yourself up.  Dust yourself off, and start all over again.

Work like a soul inspired, until the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired, but you'll be a man, my son.

Will you remember the famous men who had to fall to rise again?
They picked themselves up.  Dusted themselves off, and started all over again.

Work like a soul inspired till the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired, but you'll be a man, my son.

Will you remember the famous men who had to fall to rise again?
So take a deep breath.  Pick yourself up.  Dust yourself off, and start all over again.

2.       CHRONIC PAIN

Have you had your pain a long time?  So have I!  Learn from my pain to stop yours!  I’m not just writing this for my health!!  I am writing it for your health, too!  Open up your mind.  Ask yourself what is it that you need to learn so badly that the pain has been so bad.  The punishment always fits the crime.  Paul and Joseph were jailed for many years seemingly unjustly.  I think Joseph was knocked down for his bragging and arrogance in telling his brothers he was better than them.  The point is to stop crying over spilt milk.  What’s done is done and cannot be undone.  The pain is very painfully here and now.  Deal with it!  There is no running or hiding now.  The pain is not going away!  And if you are anything like me, you have tried many, many doctors, pills, herbs, surgeries, etc., to get rid of the pain.  But it keeps coming back!  Occasionally you get a few days, weeks, months or even a few years reprieve, but I am here to tell you that it will continue to come back until you go to God!  Your pain is there because you did not listen to nudges, whispers or the still small voice within.

George Bernard Shaw said, “Progress is impossible without change,

and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything.”

Pain is a symptom that there is a problem in the body.  Sure, take an aspirin.  That’s okay with God.  And, yes, the aspirin makes the pain go away, but it does not make the problem go away.  The problem just gets worse.  Then we get to the point of needing something stronger than aspirin.  Next we need something stronger than the pain pills.  The next step I guess is cutting it out of our bodies.  Been there!  Done that too!  But the pain just comes back somewhere – if not that same pain, another pain comes back – UNTIL WE LEARN OUR LESSONS!

“If you only do what you can, you will never be more

than you are now.” Shifu on Kung Fu Panda 3

If I am hammering the point home, I apologize.  I really want you to hear me.  We only use a hammer when a thumbtack just won’t do the job.  Next time, don’t ignore the thumbtack!  Yes, I know you didn’t understand.  You didn’t know to ask or how to ask or that you can negotiate.  I DIDN’T EITHER!  And believe it or not God did not know that I had forgotten that I could ask, ask how to ask or negotiate.  God doesn’t interfere in our decisions.  He gave us free will.  THAT IS WHY I AM WRITING THESE GOD’S LESSONS!!!!!  I am here to teach you!  THESE GOD’S LESSONS ARE A MAIN PURPOSE OF MY LIFE.  And here I am doing the best I know how.  Listen to me!  Please listen!  Don’t make all my pain be for naught!  Don’t make all this work be for naught!  HEAR ME!  HEED ME!  LEARN THE LESSON.  DO THE LESSON.  BE THE LESSON.  TEACH THE LESSON.  The New World is here.  The 1000 years has begun!  And some of us may need every bit of that 1000 years to become what we need to become to save ourselves.

“Do or do not.  There is no try.”

Yoda in the Star Wars movie, Episode 5,

         The Empire Strikes Back

Ask yourself:  What did I do or say just before I got stuck with this pain that I need to stop saying or doing?

“Wisdom is the principal thing.  Therefore, get wisdom, and with all

thy getting, get understanding.” (vs7 KJV)  The proverb says to get

wisdom but to get an understanding of that wisdom.  Understanding

is the ability to perceive and discern a situation in order to apply

wisdom (knowledge which is true and moral). Proverbs 4:1-13, by

         Nealreal, Oct 11, 2010.

I was hurting really badly for so many, many years.  DON’T BE ME!!!  What have you not yet learned?  What problem/lesson keeps happening to you over and over and over again?   Have you finally reached the point of desperation?  Stop kidding yourself.  We really are beating ourselves!  Let me say that again.  WE REALLY ARE BEATING OURSELVES!  God gave us control over ourselves, but not over others.  That is very, very, very important!  We can change ourselves!  WE CAN CHANGE OURSELVES!  Take control NOW!

                  “God doesn’t take orders….

Don’t pray for others to change….

(Tell God), I’ll change….  Joel Osteen

As soon as we show that we have learned our lessons by saying and doing differently, the pain stops and the healing begins.  Communication is the key.  Every time we feel a pain, we must ask ourselves:

What is this pain trying to teach me?

What is it that I need to stop saying or doing?

Have I had this pain before?

What did I not learn sufficiently well before?

Have I backslid to old habits of saying and doing otherwise?

And we can also ask God to help us learn our lessons easily and well.

“All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered.

The point is to discover them.”  Galileo Galilei

3.       HOW CAN WE END ALL THIS PAIN?

It is not time that heals all wounds.  It is ourselves that heal all wounds - when we learn our lessons.  So how do we decide that our lessons are done and our pain can stop?  We decide by changing.  By not doing what we were doing that we would not want someone else to do to us.  Like any good parent, God leaves us in the problems that we get ourselves into to make us stronger, to teach us to be nicer, to teach us that our feelings and other people’s feelings are more important than anything else!

“Make my enemy (your lessons) brave and strong,

so that if defeated, I will not be ashamed.”

                 Plains Indian Proverb

I realize I am suggesting that you change, and change is uncomfortable to say the least.  But the only thing we can really count on in life is CHANGE!

There’s A Hole In My Sidewalk:

                                            Autobiography  In Five Short Chapters

                                                              by Portia Nelson

Chapter I

I walk down the street.  There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.  I fall in.
I am lost.  I am helpless.  It isn’t my fault.  It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter II

I walk down the same street.  There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.  I fall in again.  I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.  It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter III

I walk down the same street.  There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.  I still fall in.  It’s a habit, but my eyes are open.
I know where I am.  It is my fault.  I get out immediately.

Chapter IV

I walk down the same street.  There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter V

         I walk down another street.

Preaching doesn’t work well.  Most all of us tune preaching/lecturing out.  The great preachers of the world have learned not to preach/lecture much anymore.  They tell jokes, stories and examples – like Jesus did.  Try different churches till you find one that fits you – or fits that the person that you wish to be.

“If we threw all of our problems into a pile and saw

everyone else's problems, we'd grab ours back.”

        by Regina Brett

And the good news is - or the bad news is, if that is your perception:  If we don’t change, we get to do the lesson/problem/learning opportunity again and again – and again.  And I did do several lessons for months and years and decades again and again and again!  DON’T BE ME!!  My point here is that we will not begin to heal until we come to understand that WE CAUSE ALL OF OUR OWN PAIN!  And the good news is that if it is our fault, we can change the outcome.  If we lay fault on others, well then there is nothing we can do.  We are then left at the hands of chance.

“Your life does not get better by chance.

It gets better by change.”  Jim Rohn

None of us know who we really are until we have arrived.

4.       THERE IS LIFE AFTER PAIN

And to you, who like me, thought there was only pain to endure, there is hope!  Hiding from God is cold and lonely, but He lets us hide.  That is our choice.  Running from God is scary and lonely, but He lets us run, too.  That, too, is our choice.  But you are stronger and braver than you may think!  We all are!  God never gives us more than He thinks we can handle.  And God can fix anything!  Give Him a chance.  I did and He saved me!  He can save you, too!  You may feel, like me, that you are the bull that has been stuck so many times over and over and over again by the picadors.  I had so little strength left.  I could barely even move about the house – and ever so slowly.  I saw myself as the poor, noble bull with the life bleeding out of him – almost gone.  I felt relieved and even grateful that this life of pain and punishment was apparently nearly done.  That was when I saw that I had done this so many, many times before.

                                             Invictus

“Out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever Gods may be for my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeoning of chance, my head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears, looms but the horror of the shade.

And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how straight the gate,

how charged with punishment the scroll,

I am the master of my fate.  I am the captain of my soul.”

        William Ernest Henley

A vengeful, cruel, punishing God He is, I thought.  I begged for mercy.  I begged to die.  For nearly a year I begged to die.  But the soul doesn’t die, and God felt I was strong enough to continue in this lesson that I could not seem to understand.  I even asked God to suck me back in – if I couldn’t die.  I could see no further than the tired, old warped merry-go-round that I felt stuck on.  But God said, “no.”  I’m sure now – as I perfect this lesson before putting it on the web - that saying that ‘no’ was one of God’s hardest tasks, but He had to stand firm.  “No,” God thought, “You are not going around this mountain again and again and again anymore.  I have found you!

“And even in our sleep, pain that cannot

falls drop by drop upon the heart.

And in our own despair - against our will –

comes wisdom to us by the awesome grace of God.”

                  Aeschylus

Never forget:  we can run, and we can hide - but not for long.  Almighty God in His infinite mercy will come and find us.  He knows where we are.  He just doesn’t understand why we are running.  God doesn’t interfere in our decisions.  He gave us free will.  And like any parent, it hurts him when we run away.  God didn’t know that I had been running and hiding so long that I even forgot I could ask, how to ask and that I could even negotiate.

       “Everyone has fears,

but those who face their fears have courage too.”

         Ernest Hemmingway.

I had been saying for months when I was begging to die, “I’m so broken – so very, very broken.  There are so many pieces, so many tiny little pieces – like Humpty Dumpty, who could not be put back together again.  But, in truth I now realize, it’s not me, but the huge thick wall I had built and reinforced around my heart that was broken down into so many tiny little pieces.  I had visions all along the way of this.  First, I saw about a 1” black ball pop out of my chest and fall to the floor after a significant aha.  I remember thinking, “Good riddance to bad rubbish.”  And I vow to you I did hear God chuckle – like a parent might chuckle lightly and smile when a child has passed a significant milestone.  I have learned at long last – as I prepare these notes for my website – that God is really everything.  And He responds to us according to how we act, what we say and what we do.  He loves us – every single one of us!  He hasn’t given up on us!  He loves all of us very much!  Be the child He wants you to be so He can shower you with his love and affection – as He so longs to do.

“Nature teaches every living creature this one truth:  Victory is not

about winning every battle, but never giving up the fight.  Whatever

doesn’t kill you just makes you stronger.  There is nothing wrong with

running, especially when you do it in style.  Any day you don’t get

eaten – that’s a win to me.”  Hello World, Discovery Channel

After the second aha, I saw black gunk oozing from my chest.  And after the third aha, a storm of tiny sand sprung from my chest and fell to the floor.  After the fourth aha I had, I saw a flood of (believe it or not- because I cried so very much these last few years) uncried tears flow from my chest.  “Free at last!” I thought, “I’m free at last to love, to live, to breathe, to say what is in my heart.  After the last aha I had, puss oozed from my chest.  Then my chest at last began to feel full and puffed up.  I never knew anyone could breathe this good and freely!  Hear me!  Please hear me!  Don’t let all my pain and tears be for naught!  Learn from me!  DON’T BE ME!

         is to waste the present,”

5.       SO YOU SAY ARE STRONG.  YOU CAN TAKE IT

Yes, I know you are strong.  So was I!  Believe it or not, until I met my husband in my late 40s, I was the one everyone else leaned on.  Who cares?  God!!  God is not a fool!  He can use that persistence and that strength!  And He will – for good.  It was not all for naught!  Let me say that again!  IT WAS NOT ALL FOR NAUGHT!!!  The further an arrow is pulled back with a bow, the further the arrow can be shot.  A strong persistent arrow always hits its mark!  You are not out of strength.  Not inside!  You can never die.  You probably dearly need a vacation – like I’m on now.  Don’t waste it!  Use it!  Add even more value to your soul!  God sees it all, and no one can out give God!  Be God’s arrow, straight and true.  He needs you.  We all need you.  Don’t kid yourself, earth is a warzone!  And we are all soldiers.  Pick your side, or it will be picked for you!  We all choose.  And if we choose not to choose, we are simply allowing others to choose for us.  Do you really want to hand control of your body – and soul - over to others?  GO TO GOD!  God will let you run with your football so dear.  He knows we need the win, but that run is but one play in one game in one life.  Know the score!

True queens (and kings) are made on the heels of failure.”

Savage Kingdom TV series, Part 2.

SEE!  Open your eyes!  Open your heart!  See that it was you that pulled back the arrow in the bow, not God.  Your strength, your persistence, your endurance pulled that arrow back!  EVERY ACTION HAS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION.  Neither the bow nor the arrow care who pulls the arrow back – or how hard.  When the arrow is pulled back far and hard, it shoots further.  You may want to scold yourself for being so stupid and stubborn, and not learning your lessons sooner, but also praise yourself for being so strong and stubborn!  Therein obscures the difference between the water and oil in us.  Water and oil is discussed in later lessons.

“I am lucky to be what I am!”

from Happy Birthday to You by Dr. Seuss

After I got past giving up and wanting to die, I began all my dozens and dozens of questions to God – hundreds maybe, I don’t know.  I didn’t count.  I wrote down the questions and the answers and reread them and rewrote them, and typed them onto the computer.  I found myself fairly often saying “Don’t count me out, God.  Don’t count me out!  I was well aware of how stubborn I can be and how persistent.  Never say die!  Keep on keeping on!  Do your very best every day.  Rethink your answers to your problems, which are opportunities and trials, and choose to listen to God and obey.  Be audacious!  Let God choose your actions.  Trust God.  He only means good for you.  It is certainly a lot more fun and rewarding.  I love you, God, for hanging in there with me!  I am sorry, God, that I do still hesitate, but I’m still an Angel in Training, and I’m very, very proud of that!  Following God’s daily plan for our lives is more rewarding and more fulfilling than you could ever have imagined.  Say your daily bread - your morning prayer.

“If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you don't.

If you like to win; but you think you can't

it's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost,

for out in the world we find:

Success begins with a fellow's will.

It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself

before You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster one.
But sooner or later the one who wins

is the one who thinks he can!”

6.       HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

You may not believe it now, but hang in there.  Hopefully, I will make sense.  I’m sure trying my best.  If I sound so earnest, it’s because I did hurt so badly; and I know there are a lot more people like me that hurt so badly.  Hang in there!  Give me a break.  I am trying my best to make sense to you of all that I struggled so hard to learn.  Believe me, once you get through the pain, you will understand, too, that God really is all love – all sacrifice.  Because love is mostly sacrifice anyway.  But there are rewards too!  There’s the ‘aha!’ we see in our children or students eyes when they learn.  There’s the great pride we feel when our children or students speak and act more kindly and more wisely.  And there’s the great relief that we don’t need to punish or withhold anything anymore so that our children will learn.  And there’s the great pride we feel when we know they have the competence and confidence to teach their lessons to others.  Learn the lesson.  Do the lesson.  Be the lesson.  This is the parent God is.  God is all love, all giving, all good - the best example of what a good parent should be and is.  God is the all in all.

The song lyrics for WALKIN’ ON FAITH

by Brandy Allison, written by Jason Allen Phelps

When this life hits me hard, and the bright lights turn to dark,
When the rain’s here to stay, it’s more than just a bad day.
I keep walking on faith.

When my whole world falls apart; and I just don’t know where to start,
I just need a friend, but no one here’s listening.
I keep walking on faith.
Chorus:
I lay it all in Your hands - all my world, all my plans.
Only You bring out the best in me, when I’ve made a mess of me.
I open up.  Rise above.  And with Your strength,
I keep walking on faith.

When my night ends all alone, and I break down drivin’ home,
When every move that I make feels like a mistake,
I keep walkin’ on faith.

I lay it all in Your hands - all my world, all my plans.
Only You bring out the best in me, when I’ve made a mess of me.
I open up.  Rise above.  And with Your strength,
I keep walking on faith.

When my hope is almost gone, and I’m barely hangin’ on,
I’ve taken just about all I can take, suddenly You light the way.
And with Your grace, I keep walkin’ on faith.

When all my hope is almost gone, I’m barely hangin’ on,
I’ve taken just about all I can take.

I open up.  Rise above with Your strength.

Suddenly You light the way, and I’m amazed.
I’m not afraid.  With every step I feel Your grace.
I’m walking on Faith.

Hey, maybe you will get something out of the fact that I am proud of me for getting this far and am able to try to explain my pain, my struggle, my lessons, my understanding, my love, my sacrifice.  Learn from me, I beg you!  Make all this pain, struggle, lessons, understanding, love and sacrifice be fruitful – very, very fruitful.  I love you very much!  I am trying my best to help you!  Please, please listen, act, learn, change and teach.  As long as we keep learning and/or mentoring what we have learned, God will keep us here healthy and whole – even it is takes 500 years – because God can do anything!  There is no hurry, and if we just slow down and rest, we can learn our lessons the first time with just the touch of a finger of our Guardian Angel before we get the thumb tack, the push or the pain.  It is all our choice!  It is always our choice as to how fast or how slow we wish to learn.  Fast is slow, and slow is fast!   Fast chicken with its head cut off has to repeat and repeat and repeat.  But a slow, rested puppet zips through his or her lessons quickly.

It is our choices.” by Dumbledore in Harry Potter

7.       THERE IS NO HALF WAY

Coddling doesn’t work.  When we accommodate our pain, we prolong our pain.  And vacations only work when they are not a complete vacation.  Keep your hand in, so you don’t lose your place or fall backwards.  I ran away from my lessons.  I got hurt.  I babied that pain and got used to the pain.  I figured it was just something I must live with because I ran away.  Then I got a new pain, pain #2.  I ignored the new pain #2.  I said it would heal on its own if I just kept thinking it was healed.  But instead, intermittent pain #1 stayed.  And pain # 2 began - a constant, ever poking at me pain.  I found God when pain #2 started.  I went to church, and I tried my best to ask God in the right way to help me with the problems in my life.

“Pray to understand what man has forgotten.”

                          Lumbee Indian Proverb

Little did I know that God gave me that problem, and all the other problems, too - to teach me patience, kindness and much more!  Then came pain #3.  By this time I thought I would just ask God to take the pain away and “move my feet”.  You know, the old “treat and move your feet” New Age Church saying.  I tried doctors, chiropractors and laying-on-of-hands healers – which are all effective to a point; but they are only delaying the learning of our lessons.  The next step was to do it myself.  I’m sure you’ve been there and done that:  the old “If you want it done right, then do it yourself!”  So I became a Naturopathic Doctor and have taken tons and tons of herbs.  You guessed it, the pain stayed.  In fact, pain #3 festered and rotted inside my body.  Then it spread in an attempt to move out of my body.

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

         Mahatma Gandhi

And that is when the chronic pain began – everyday, but not all day.  Then the pain was all day but not so bad all day.  Then there were the days then weeks then months when I was in a lot of pain all the time.  Then, the very last straw:  the heat and pressure pain was so bad I could not sleep at night.  I was cast out of bed and relegated to a chair, so I got a better chair.  Need I say?  ACCOMMODATION DOES NOT WORK!  I hope you are getting the picture!  Learn from my mistakes.  Don’t go there!  It just isn’t any fun!  DON’T BE ME!!!

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity.

An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

                  Prime Minister Winston Churchill

Please don’t get me wrong.  God doesn’t give us pain.  God uses the pain we got ourselves into by not listening and obeying.  God uses our pain to give us an opportunity to learn from our experiences and grow into the best version of ourselves:  kind, understanding, giving, loving and forgiving mentors to help others with their lessons.

“I cannot say whether things will get better if we change.

What I can say is:  things must change if they are to get better.”

8.       GET CARRY OUT AND DELIVERY

I was so very sick and in pain, and I thought I was saving myself with the doctors, herbs, drugs and surgeries.  But the exact opposite was true!  Facing my fear and pain with the knowledge that I know now - and give to you - is the only way to get through pain.  I AVOW TO YOU:  IT IS THE ONLY WAY!  God not only allows but sets up encounters with people who have counterbalancing lessons if He thinks we can handle it.  Everything is negotiable, and I have learned to do quite a bit of negotiating recently.  Try it.  God will listen, and give you respite – but you must give God something of equal value in return.  Listen to that still small voice you feel and hear after you have asked God for help.  Then obey, that is if you want any further requests for help to be answered.  Oh, God is a very forgiving God!  But how many times has He helped you already without getting anything in return?????

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.  Thy rod and Thy staff,

they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the

presence of mine enemies.  Thou anointest my head with oil.  My

cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all

the days of my life.  And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Bible, Psalm 23:4

In the Bible, carry us means deliver us.  So when you are struggling, ask for God’s help, and know that He is in the process of delivering you.  And God can deliver you further and farther than you ever even dreamed possible – and all you need to do is ask.  So ask God with me now to help us all with our lessons, so that we do not need our pain any more….  There!  That is a big step you just took, and I am very proud of you.  Be very proud of yourself!

“In order to learn the most important lesson in life,

we must first surmount a fear.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is hard!  I can’t do this!  You just can’t get there from here!  Well, that is what they said about crossing the Sierra Nevada mountain range that blocked the way West to California from the East in New York - when we were lusting for all that gold.  But first we crossed on horses.  Then we crossed the mountains on dirt trails with donkeys piled high with goods for sale.  Next, we built dirt roads and crossed in wagons.  And now we have freeways crossing the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  The fact simply is in life that sometimes we run, sometimes we walk, sometimes we sit, and we all usually at some point find ourselves crawling and even clawing our way forward.  I certainly did!  But God is very willing to carry us and deliver us further than we ever thought possible if we just ask.  And the only payment God ever asks for – but often doesn’t get – is credit for the win.  God loves you, and is smiling down upon you with his arms out.  Just ask….

“And even in our sleep, pain that cannot

falls drop by drop upon the heart.

And in our own despair - against our will –

comes wisdom to us by the awesome grace of God.”

                  Aeschylus

9.       NOW, LET’S GET OURSELVES OUT OF THIS MESS

Change!  Don’t hurt others anymore.  Ask yourself how would you feel if they said those words to you?  Look at yourself through their eyes.  Yes, I know, they said unkind words to you over and over and over again.  And that is why you have walked away.  And in desperation – in an effort to get them to quit being so unkind to you – you said unkind words back to them to show them how it feels.  Been there!  Done that too!  THAT IS NOT THE POINT!  The question remains:  How long do you want your pain?

“When a man is up to his short-tail in alligators,

he has difficulty reminding himself that his initial

objective was to drain the swamp.”

All pain eventually passes – but only as soon as we are ready to let it go, and take action to let it go.  The only constant in life is change.  The bad things only hang around when we cling to them by thinking about them over and over and over again.  First, practice forgiveness.  Every single time a bad memory enters your mind or incident happens, say:  I forgive you for the (whatever – be specific).  I forget the entire incident here and now.  I wish you joy and happiness in learning your lessons easily and well, and I thank you for teaching me (whatever – be specific).

“It's not how many times we get knocked down that count.

It's how many times we get back up.”

by George A. Custer, U.S. Military

Strive to understand more than to heal.  When we understand that the pain is for us – only for us, we can begin to understand.  Our pain has nothing – ABSOLUTELY NOTHING – to do with anyone else!  The pain is there to teach us our lessons, because we did not heed the thumbtack, the push, the nudge, the whisper and the still small voice.  It is our fault – all our fault!  When we finally give in and forgive, forget, wish well and thank all day long if necessary – whenever every single negative thought, offense or pain comes - we will find peace.  You have my promise!  I longed for peace for years.  And slowly as I calmed down, I realized exactly what peace was.  It is a very calm, ‘I’ve got this’ feeling.  Whatever comes, there is a calm assurance that you’ve got this, because it isn’t really you that ‘has got this’.  It is God that ‘has got this’.  The feeling of ‘I’ve got this’ only comes after we have come to trust God completely.  I let God make all my decisions, and I worry about nothing.  It is such a freeing way to live, and the rewards may not be what you asked for – at least at first.  Patience is clearly my biggest problem – so I still wait for my complete health, but none of the pain is nearly as great as it was before.  I’ve gotten many things that were better than I ever asked for.  Peace is to guard our lives.  Ask why is the peace gone?  Peace is the presence of God.

“Our first teacher is our own heart.”

                          Cheyenne Indian Proverb

Everyone is afraid of what they do not understand.  That is a basic fight or flight response.  We can’t stop that first instinct, but we can change how we react to it.  There really is a third option to fight or flight - that huge adrenaline rush and an addiction to that rush.  Give it to God!  Get your daily bread – which means pray daily every single morning.  But pray appropriately and effectively.  Read the lesson on Ask Rightly – after I finally get that lesson up on the web.  But I am in no rush now.  I learned my lesson, and my progress does seem to be going faster now.  That lesson is written.  It just needs polish – like most all of the other lessons.

                          “Ask questions from you heart,

and you will be answered from the heart.”

                          Omaha Indian Proverb

Just like forgiveness, when we ask, THERE IS A TECHNIQUE WHICH MUST BE FOLLOWED!  This technique is polite.  It is gentle, and it takes into account that God and our Guardian Angels already know what we need – which they do.  For now, just say:  Help me, God.  Help me please, my dear sweet Guardian Angels.  AND DO NOT ASK MORE THAN ONCE AN HOUR!

“We do what we can for as long as we can,

and when we finally can’t, we do the next best thing.

We back up, but we don’t give up.”  Chuck Yeager

Have faith and trust.  Open yourself up.  Have no walls – or dual faces.  Know that a good benevolent God has your back.  Walls prevent you from receiving as well as giving.  Walls make us very poor conduits for God to use to spread his messages, and He will choose someone else to help in the New World.  The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord.  Have faith and trust God, and He will never let you down!  Don’t talk yourself out of trusting God.  We will never know what we can do until we try.  God gives us only one small task at a time, but there are incredible gifts waiting for those who embark on this journey of love and power.

The song lyrics for DIAMONDS by Hawk Nelson

Here and now I'm in the fire in above my head,

being held under the pressure.  Don't know what'll be left,

but it's here in the ashes I'm finding treasure.

Chorus:
He's making diamonds, diamonds:  making diamonds out of dust.
He is refining in His timing.  He's making diamonds out of us.

I'll surrender to the power of being crushed by love,
till the beauty that was hidden isn't covered up.
Oh, it's not what I hoped for.  It's something much better.

He's making diamonds, diamonds, making diamonds out of dust.
He is refining in His timing.  He's making diamonds out of us.

Oh the joy of the Lord, it will be my strength.
When the pressure is on, He's making diamonds.

He's making diamonds, diamonds, making us rise up from the dust.
He is refining in His timing.  He's making diamonds out of dust.
Making diamonds out of us.

I won't be afraid to shine.  I won't be afraid to shine.  I won't be afraid to shine,
cause He's making diamonds out of dust, making diamonds out of us.

If and when you need a break, just tell God.  You will get it, and He will tell you exactly how.  When I first started these God’s Lessons, I would work for hours on the computer until I was exhausted.  Then I’d eat and take as many as 20herbal pills.  Then I’d be back on the computer again for hours till I was so exhausted that I practically fell into my chair in front of the television – where I sat for a couple of hours before I trudged into bed.  Then I slept fitfully, with God and my Guardian Angels trying to teach me - and me struggling to understand it all.  I’d wake up.  Write it down.  Fight with it for a while – trying to understand and ask questions of what I didn’t understand.  I was exhausted.  It wasn’t any fun!

“You are never beaten until you admit it.”

                          General George S. Patton.

The problem was that I still felt God had punished me, and I wanted it to stop.  I was afraid of God – very afraid of God!  I had run and hid for over 40 years – even before this lifetime, because of a lifetime in which I thought I did my best but felt I was punished anyway.  It was a misunderstanding.  And when I ran and hid for that 40 years, the main things I got from that were courage and strength from the lions in which I was hiding.  But what I lost was so much more important!  I was afraid to confront God.  I was afraid to ask.  Then I forgot to ask and how to ask.  And I even forgot I could negotiate.  Before this lifetime in when I was in Heaven I was hiding from God there, too, as much as I could.  I worked in a lab whose purpose was to help the animals on earth.  I suggested that every soul should be an animal – at least once – to walk in the animals’ moccasins.  I felt that would give them understanding.  That was 70 years ago.  I was told God thought it was a good idea too and put it into effect.  And I have seen for the last 20 years or so many programs on television about people now trying to help the plight of the animals in the world; and I am very grateful – very, very grateful!  Thank you!

“Do not judge your neighbor until you walk two

moons in his moccasins.”  Cheyenne Indian Proverb

However, everyone in the lab was mad at me.  They thought that was a terrible idea.  Because Heaven is all about balance, that disturbance in the force/lab was what sent everyone in the lab down here to earth this time.  Prime numbers can only be divided by themselves.  Heaven houses the prime number of us.  There cannot be division, so when there is disturbance/division, then those involved need more lessons.  Lessons are for the most part taught on earth.  Dave, my husband and manager of the lab, accepted fault, because he is just that way.  He was the manager; and when the people under him do wrong, he takes the fault.  And I applaud him for being the bigger man.

“The buck stops here.” said a sign on

                          President Harry S. Truman’s desk

I felt working on these God Lessons was my redeeming grace.  I felt that if I finished these lessons, God would love me; and I wouldn’t have any pain anymore.  But God already loved me, and that is why I got those lessons.  Even in the lab, I didn’t talk to anyone.  I just did my job, hoping people would just leave me alone and not pick on me or hurt me.  I had been so alone for so long that it was the only way I knew to avoid pain.  It became imperative that I finish all these God Lessons and the reading program I have been working on for so very long.  I thought my health would probably improve slowly, but I am 70 years old.  And I figured if I was lucky if I would get it all done.  I thought it was my duty to God for helping me and taking away a lot of my pain.

The song lyrics for OVERCOMER by Mandisa

Staring at a stop sign.  Watching people drive by.
T Mac on the radio.  Got so much on your mind.
Nothing's really going right.  Looking for a ray of hope.

Whatever it is you may be going through, I know
He's not gonna let it get the best of you.

Chorus:

You're an overcomer.  Stay in the fight till the final round.
You're not going under cause God is holding you right now.
You might be down for a moment, feeling like it’s hopeless.
That's when He reminds You that you're an overcomer.
You're an overcomer.

Everybody's been down. Hit the bottom.  Hit the ground.
Ooh, you're not alone.  Just take a breath.  Don't forget.
Hang on to His promises.  He wants You to know:

You're an overcomer.  Stay in the fight till the final round.
You're not going under cause God is holding you right now.
You might be down for a moment, feeling like it’s hopeless.
That's when He reminds You that you're an overcomer.
You're an overcomer.

The same Man, the Great I Am, the One who overcame death.
He's living inside of You, so just hold tight.

Fix your eyes on the One who holds your life.
There's nothing He can't do, He's telling you.

Take a breath.  Don't forget.  Hang on to His promises.

You're an overcomer.  Stay in the fight till the final round.
You're not going under cause God is holding you right now.
You might be down for a moment, feeling like it’s hopeless.
That's when He reminds You that you're an overcomer.
You're an overcomer.

You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.

So don't quit.  Don't give in.

You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.
So don't quit.  Don't give in.

You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.  You're an overcomer.
So don't quit.  Don't give in.

Well, I was wrong!  I finally just ran out, told God I was empty, bone dry, and just had to rest for a while.  Well I did, for a couple of days, because I have never liked television much.  I have long called myself a recovering Type A personality.  You see there is a theory that there are Type A and Type B personalities.  Type A personalities tend to be more competitive, outgoing, ambitious, impatient and/or aggressive.  Type B personalities tend to be more relaxed.  One of our main lessons in life is to realize that if we relax – be a Type B personality – and let God run our lives, we will do so much better in life than if we choose to go it alone without God.  Without God, drive forces us to be competitive, outgoing, ambitious, impatient and/or aggressive – which ruins friendships, families, health and shortens lives.  Relax and follow in the footsteps God has laid out for you.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil for thou art with me.

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.

Thou anointest my head with oil.  My cup runneth over.

Holy Bible,Psalms 23:2, A Psalm of David

Bored with television, I started asking questions again.  I asked what God preferred me to do.  God preferred 1½ hours work on the computer then a half hour break and repeat twice.  I got obsessive about the “what God preferred me to do,” and that sent me into another downward spiral into exhaustion again.  What I am trying, probably so feebly, to tell you is that God is very gentle.  He only wants good for you – health, happiness, wholeness and joy.  It wasn’t until after He told me I had at least 500 years – then 1000 years – to get my work done that I finally relaxed and am now enjoying my life.  And I am finally gaining more energy every single day.  God is good – very good!  He loves you very much.  All He really wants is for us to all get along and be nice to each other.

“The Seven Wonders of the World”

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present “Seven

Wonders of the World.” Though there were some disagreements, the following received the

most votes:

1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids

2. Taj Mahal

3. Grand Canyon

4. Panama Canal

5. Empire State Building

6. St. Peter’s Basilica

7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet.

So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, “Yes, a little.  I

couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.”

The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”

The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ are:

1. To See

2. To Hear

3. To Touch

4. To Taste

5. To Feel

6. To Laugh

7. And to Love.”

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!

I can’t find who wrote this either, but it is repeated several times on the internet.

When we are weak, God’s power shows up the greatest.  If God showed us all of our future at one time, we might think we were unable to do it and not try.  But God knows we can.  The Bible says God’s word is a lamp unto our path.  God has everything we need.  Step by step, God leads us.  Have the boldness to step into and do what God is asking you to do today – ONLY TODAY – one day at a time.  Trust God, and you will make less mistakes, be happier, miracles will happen, and you will accomplish more than you ever dreamed.

A basic naturopathic truth is that we heal from the inside out, top down and in the reverse order of symptoms.  This is so when we follow God, too.  But we can look to our body to get a clue as to what our lesson is that we need to be working on and changing.  Sensitivity, for example - and one of my lessons, of course - is a killer:  a killer of friendships, joy, happiness, health and love.  Just stop.  Ask God to help you to stop being so sensitive to other’s words and actions.  Every single time you feel a hurt, a sting, a poke or a push, say:  I forgive you for the (whatever – be specific).  I forget the entire incident here and now.  I wish you joy and happiness in learning your lessons easily and well.  I thank you for teaching me not to be so sensitive (or whatever – be specific).  And let it go.  Sure, I know it will come back up in your mind for a while.  Be faithful in repeating:   I forgive you for the (offense – be specific).  I forget the offense here and now.  I wish you joy and happiness in learning your lessons easily and well.  I thank you for teaching me not to be so (whatever -be specific - e.g., impatient).  And let it go.  Be persistent, and be patient – another lesson of mine, of course.

Sensitive skin

Don’t be so sensitive.  Every single time you hurt, say:  I forgive you for saying (whatever was said – be specific).  I forget the entire incident here and now.  I wish (whomever you were thinking of or that hurt you) joy and happiness in learning your lessons easily and well.  I thank you for teaching me not to be so sensitive.  And let it go.  Read the Be Polite Lesson.

Lower back pain: kidneys/

adrenals

Kidneys are the strength of the body.  Stop carrying all those burdens.  Give them to God.  God really wants you too!  He is waiting for you to ask for help.  He wants to help you, but you must ask rightly.  Read the Ask Rightly lesson.  And stop taking on other people’s problems.  Read the Only Help With Overflow lesson.  When we take on other people’s problems, we are depriving them of the opportunity to learn their lesson.  The result is we not only have an additional burden ourselves, but the lesson of the person we were trying to help has been prolonged or postponed.  Until they, themselves, go to God it will not go away!  WE CANNOT DO IT FOR THEM.  We can lead a horse to water, but we cannot make it drink.

Foot pain

Follow in God’s footsteps.  Dave, my husband, got me some new red suede slippers for Christmas, among other things.  These slippers have an oval ring of off-white sheep skin at the ankle.  I call them my God shoes.  I wear them a lot.  I put them on first thing in the morning – so that I am reminded to walk in God’s footsteps all day.  Then I watch a 30-minute Joel Osteen message or songs that I have taped.  Next, I say my Daily Prayer.  That is my morning ritual day in and day out.  The shoes look like Santa shoes, which made me laugh.  But really, God is the best Santa of all.  No one can out give God.  Believe me!  He has really shown me that!  He may not give us what we want right away, but He will give us what we need right away – over and over and over again.  Pay attention to what God is giving you.  Be grateful and use it for your and others’ good.

Hands hurt

We receive and give with our hands.  Read the Only Help With Overflow lesson.  For now, since that lesson is not on the web yet, be concerned with giving of yourself.  Read Be Polite.  Give yourself away and gain friends you never knew you could have.  The love of friends is what makes life worth living – really!  I have always been a loner.  I shied away from groups because I didn’t like gossip and preferred more academic, stimulating conversation.  I told myself that people disappoint me.  But the truth is:  I disappointed people - with my sensitivity and my walking by without saying hello.

Digestive

Problems

Bogged down in your life?  Give it to God.  Start with the Forgiveness lesson, and give it all up to God.  When we are healthy, we do not stink – really!  Our feet don’t smell.  Our armpits don’t smell.  Even our bowel movements don’t smell – really!  Dave’s don’t, and mine don’t now.  Sure, if we wear the same clothing several days in a row, the clothing will accumulate odor.  That is because the body gets rid of accumulated toxins and waste on a daily basis through the detox organs:  liver, bowel, kidneys, skin and lungs.  It is only when we hold on to pain/problems/ lessons that our body reflects our emotions, and it holds on to toxins.  I once heard that a movie star died with 50 pounds of toxin in his gut.  Pretty amazing, huh?  Hey, how much toxin do you think you have accumulated in your gut?  My husband – my gift of God - has always had about five bowel movements a day.  He never smells.  He never wears deodorant, and he has always been a hard worker.  But Dave is a soldier of God, who dutifully took me - the bull - and held me gently as I turned into a china dish and shattered to reveal the gold and diamonds within.

Eyesight

First let me ask:  what emotion or offense have you kept seeing or receiving over and over again in your life that you don’t want to see or receive anymore – that you are sick to death of?

Fairly recently God took away my proprioceptive/feeling sense when others were approaching me in my sleep.  Then God followed that fairly quickly by taking away the vision from my dreams.  And God took away my beauty a few years ago, no matter how hard I tried.  First I got sick.  Then I got fat trying to eat enough protein to rebuild all the body parts that were repairing themselves.  Then I got old.  But, believe it or not, I am getting healthier every day now; and I am sure God is restoring my youth back also.  God took my vision away, so I would concentrate on how sensitive I was to what I was hearing.  It worked.  I quit!  And you can quit, too.  Don’t be so sensitive!

Hearing

Tired of hearing others complain?  Stop complaining.  I call myself a bull a lot in these lessons.  I have often felt like a bull, and I am a Taurus – but I haven’t read any astrology in a few decades.  But here is another truth:  Do you want great things like fine china in your life? Dave and Mike, both big men – much larger than me – could and do go easily into a china shop.  They sit there and wait quietly and patiently for their instructions.  Because God sends them into the china shop to give them fine china to care for while He turns that fine china into diamonds and gold.

Can you imagine a bull in a china shop?  A strong, energetic bull would destroy that china shop!  Jesus said, “Don’t cast your pearls on swine.”  And God doesn’t give fine china to strong bulls!  I was a tired, sick frustrated bull that God turned into fine china after giving me to Dave and Mike.  And it was in their care that I broke into a million little pieces.  But it was really only the wall around my heart that shattered.

Super tired?

Rest.  Slay that frenzied chicken!  I have known for years that I acted like a chicken with its head cut off.  First, I just hoped I would have enough energy to just get through each crisis.  Then I gave up and just walked away – in a desperate attempt to save myself.  A hair analysis, which I still have in storage, said some 15 years ago that I was in adrenal fatigue.  The analysis honestly to me read like:   Wrap it up.  Write your will.  You’re dead.  You just don’t know it yet.  That was right around the time I was finishing up and getting my doctorate in Naturopathy.  Well, the herbs, chiropractors, surgeries, pills, etc., were just barely keeping my nose above water.  And I don’t even dog paddle well!  I have always felt like I was paddling for my life and gasping for breath.  And my lungs got worse and worse and worse.  Even the miracles and healings this year for months just barely keep me moving around the house and working on the God Lessons.  And what I learned from that is:  EVEN THE GREATEST HEALER OF ALL CANNOT FILL A CUP THAT IS ALREADY FULL!  Empty out your cup!  Empty yourself of all those negative feelings.  Every single time one enters your mind, say:  I forgive you for the (offense – be specific).  I forget the entire incident here and now.  I wish you joy and happiness in learning your lessons easily and well.  I thank you for teaching me (whatever – be specific).

Breathing Problems

I have been using an inhaler off and on since my early 20s, but even in junior high school I was never able to do any long distance running.  And I noticed when my daughter was little and I was in my 30s, I couldn’t even jog 50 feet.  But as long as I just walked, I was okay.  Are you just okay, because you don’t know what else you can do about it?  Don’t be me!  Give it to God!  Follow God as closely as you know how; and the more you follow him, the more ability you will be given to follow Him.  That is what He has done for me.  And He will do it for you, too!  All you need to do is ask.  I cannot ask for you!  You must do this yourself.  It is all tied up in God having given each of us free will.

My breathing got so bad last Christmas eve that I was rushed to the hospital.  I had a heart attack because my heart did not get enough oxygen.  But even that was all God’s plan.  I was dead just long enough for God to make this really incredible connection that I have had with Him since that time.  And to my incredible amazement, the connection just keeps growing stronger and stronger.  But I am sure that is only because I have told God so many, many, many times in this last year that I will do anything He asks.  And He really asks for very little.  I wanted to write these lessons so I could help others like me.  He liked that idea, and He writes this through me.  God makes everything I do better than I could ever have imagined.  Try it!  Just start!  I started with forgiving.  Start anywhere.  Just start.  Start now.  Right now!

Memory

Problems

Live and love for today.  God doesn’t care if you remember anything!  He will even help you forget certain things if you ask Him to help you forget those things.  Don’t complain.  Let only God’s words leave your lips.  Be his puppet – like me!  Enjoy every moment.  Follow God, and He will reward you beyond your wildest dreams.  Read The New World lesson.  Make yourself worthy to have a Guide or worthy to be a Guide.  Help in the fight!  The 1000 years has begun!

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs.

                 Ask yourself what makes you come alive;

And then go do that, because what the world needs

is people who have come alive.”  Harold Whitman

I got the following chart somewhere years ago.  I thought then it was interesting.  Maybe it can help you.  Be honest.  Do any of the words on the left describe you at all?  Do any of the words on the right repel you or make you angry – because you tried and tried and just gave up and walked away?  God is not asking you to be Mother Teresa – not at all, unless that is what you want to be.  God really wants you to be you – with all of your desires and preferences.  God just wants you to be the best you that you can be, and only you can tell yourself what that is exactly.  What is it you love to do, what makes you come alive?

The swan walks so awkwardly that we laugh.

But the swan becomes elegantly graceful in the water.

So my question to you is:

What is the water of your belonging?

What are the things you do gracefully?

What gives you a sense of belonging?

                 What is your heart’s desire?

What happened or what days in your life do you most remember?

When you have found your bliss, and when

you love to do what you do, everything flows.

And you become one with the universe.”

I can’t find who wrote this beautiful poem, but I know I’ve had it for decades.  I had it before I even started writing down who wrote those beautiful words I was collecting.  I first began collecting beautiful words in an envelope when I was in my 20s.  After a few years that envelope got full, so the words went into a large manila folder.  Then a couple of decades ago, I typed my collection into a file on my computer called “Wisdoms”.  I didn’t know why I was making this collection.  I knew those words helped me.  I guess God started long ago on the pieces that were to go into these God Lessons.  I have learned that God is quite a planner!  I hope you love my 'wisdoms' as much as I always have!
